Question by Whitewolfct: Critiques of the WWE’s “Wellness Program” — what is wrong with this picture?
Since Jeff Hardy is the current topic of the day, I just thought I’d bring up a related and perhaps more important issue and question. Concerning WWE’s “Wellness Program” (see link for details), do you think there are problems with the way the WWE is dealing with substance abuse? It seems to me like the Wellness program is more of a patch-up job than a real solution. Too many wrestlers have been lost and too many more are getting addicted to steroids, drugs, GH, painkillers, et cetera — are random testing and mandatory suspensions real solutions? Do they merely pay lip service to much bigger problems that the WWE isn’t able or willing to deal with?

While I don’t have time to follow the link and read it, I still have an opinion on the WWE’s wellness policy. I don’t think the WWE is doing it out of the kindness of their heart. If they were they would have instituted the policy a long time ago.

It is only being done as PR move to throw off negative attention. If any of the substances that violate the policy have been prescribed by a doctor than the wrestler will automatically not be in violation.

Regardless of the policy if the WWE really likes you, they will probably protect you and keeping pushing you. Look at Randy Orton. While he has been caught twice for marijuana use and suspended for other violations he still continues to be pushed. The guy has done a lot of bad things like trash hotel rooms, crap in people’s bag and even attempted suicide once or talked about. You think WWE would take a more cautious side in pushing him. But for some reason they just love to give him the ball.

I truly believe that Vince does not have faith in Hardy since he doesn’t fit the mold of the type of wrestlers he likes to push. So they were more than eager to suspend Hardy. It made them look great, like they were actually enforcing their policy since a top tier guy got suspended. I will only believe the policy is not biased when I see a guy like HHH or John Cena get suspended.

Question by JonathanN: Does TNA have a “wellness program”?
Or do they just take in anyone and not care if they juice or not? Could Jeff Hardy go there if he doesn’t go to jail? Do they care about drug use?
