Question by James M: Should I speak up to my “PROFESSOR”?
I am taking a course in substance abuse, as part of a Masters Program in Social Work. The professor usually teaches EX-ADDICTS who want to become counselors. He is a Black Muslim about 60 years old and claims to hold a Ph.D……spelled PHD for some reason. The problem is:::::::: he is CONSTANTLY coming out with B.S………example Cocaine is really a DEPRESSANT ect……AA meetings were ILLEGAL in 1984. Marijuana is NOT a chemical……..SEMANTICS OK! ………also crap about PROTRACTED withdrawal means DETOX……it means PROLONGED!!!! and MANY MANY MANY MORE…………..When he doesn’t know the answer he just makes some crap up………..it makes me so MADDDDDDDDD I don’t want to OFFEND him, nor do I want to alienate myself from his “followers” (mostly uneducated people who sit there for the CASAC) but,,,,,,,frankly it pisses me off !!!!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Eri…..thanks…..I would LOVE it if others would say something as well. I may do what you say. So far BEST ANSWER

Go talk to the dean about your concerns. Try not to come across as mad or racist – just tell him you don’t think he’s qualified to teach the course and cite a few examples.
Answer by Rick
Well if you over think it; True facts about marijuana and other drugs were misleading until the late 90’s. So if he is 60ish maybe hes just out of the times? And some teachers arn’t exactly the smartest people in the world.
