“What are the Harmful Consequences of Drug Use?” : http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hc-ps/pubs/adp-apd/straight_facts-faits_mefaits/harmful-torts-eng.php#harmful covers the BEHAVIOUR.
The next page “What is Canada’s Drug Strategy?” discusses about the PREVENTION too.
Treatment, eh?! http://www.drugabuse.gov/DrugPages/Treatment.html might help.
I think this article: “The evolutionary origins and significance of drug addiction” might help ya too…
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1174878/
Most importantly,”Drugs distribution and use in ancient environments” will give you a clear picture about the ancient substance abuse.
But I betcha, to trace the origin is an impossible stuff … 🙁
Ahhhh that National Center for Biotechnology Information article has everything ya want! 🙂 Happy “papering” 😀

Question by Star D: Intervention?
Is it possible to check a family member into rehab without their consent? Does anyone know what the procedure is for that? He is 28 and of course says he is “not addicted.” He is killing himself with drugs and from what we’ve heard he has to agree to be checked into any treatment facility. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
He is my brother. My closest family. What am I supposed to do then just watch him die?

usually addiction to drugs can not be overcome unless the individual who is suffering reaizes they have a problem. You will just need to wait and support them. Try not to judge
Answer by dreamer 2
Due to his age then no it is not possible to have hom checked into rehab with out his consent. But you also say that you have heard that he has agreed to go himself…so thats the best time to help him get there. Also depending on what drugs he is using then his behaviour might very well end him up in a treatment center without his consent( such as violent or sucidal or criminal behavours)I am not saying he is like this as it can depend on what he it using and what effect it has on him when he is unable to obtain the substance that he takes.
Also i agree with the first answer that you cannot help anyone with an addiction problem until they recognize it themselves and want to do something about it.I know that its hard to watch some one going through this sort of thing but there are groups to help friends and relatives who are being affected by addiction.Depending on where you live…for alchol there is anolon and for others there are other groups but i cant given you names as i said it depends on where you live….perhaps looking in the community section of the phone book that your country uses…under help and support…where i come from there is a huge list of numbers in the yellow pages and the white pages( phone book and adress directory)
Good luck to you and your family and this young man.

Question by FoiRee: What new-ish (since 2005) attractions or changes are there in Orlando Florida?
Hi, I’m visiting Orlando (Florida) this August-September for my birthday, and was just wondering what new attractions have been introduced since the last time I went last in 2005, and what other big changes there are (for example, the Simpsons ride opening, introduction of new park rules, etc)
Any advice or news will be much appreciated 🙂 thanks!

The Harry Potter theme park will be open. . . . maybe there’s some new attraction in Disney (the whole enchilada btw, like Epcot, Magic Kingdom, the water parks, etc.

For Islands of Adventure: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – note that most people think this is either a ride or a whole theme park, it is not..it’s just a section of Islands of Adventure rethemed to Harry Potter…there will be a new ride there, though. Triceratops Encounter/Triceratops Discovery Trail closed.
Universal Studios: Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit rollercoaster, Simpsons ride. I think when you went, there was a ride called “Earthquake” or something like that…they renamed it “Disaster!: A Major Motion Picture Ride…Starring You!” – it has a different pre-show now, and has some new ride elements, not sure what they did new there since it seemed the same to me (except for the pre-show) from when I went when I was younger. I think there’s a new animal show there too (a couple new shows).
Seaworld: Manta Rollercoaster (and there’s also a kiddie coaster in the kiddie section).
Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest rollercoaster
Disney’s Magic Kingdom: The did rehab on Space Mountain, so there’s a new interactive queue and some other things were redone (improved themeing, retracking, although the ride has the same layout as before)
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: American Idol Experience
Disney’s Epcot Center: “Living Seas” is now “The Seas with Nemo & Friends”, Kim Possible World Showcase
Most parks had several renovations and retheming of rides, as they need to keep something new coming to the parks so returning visitors don’t get bored…though I’m not an expert on Orlando parks, so I cannot name all of them.
I know Disney’s Magic Kingdom is partly under construction because they are expanding – not sure how much or which part of the park is closed off…it may not effect you too much.
I must confess that I mostly keep up with “rollercoaster” updates, so I’m not 100% sure if there are new rides or shows from the last time you were there.
