How Would You Feel if You Were Trying to Stop Taking Drugs & Someone Labeled & Called You as a “Drug Addict”

Question by JEN A: How would you feel if you were trying to stop taking drugs & someone labeled & called you as a “drug addict”
How do you think a person might react, a person suffering from years of addiction, family chaos & emotional/verbal abuse, if the person they claimed they loved called them a “drug addict”. Also, do you think that if a person sitting in the middle of a movie pulls out a pill container & starts popping pills that this may be red flag to a SERIOUS ADDICTION – hence the name calling?

A little background info for you:
Late boyfriend had been abused by family from the time he was a little boy – emotionally, sexually, verbally, physically. He had a serious addiction to drugs – mostly opiates I believe. He & I started dating 2 1/2 years ago – long-distance. I didn’t know the extent of his past at this time, he just claimed he loved me & that I was the only person that mattered to him, etc. & that he was trying to get off drugs so we could be together. We fought about stupid stuff. I called him a drug addict & that I hated it/him.

Well I’ve learned from my own personal experience that someone that says that they “Love you” and wants them to help you “Get off using Drugs” don’t really mean it.. That person has to be the one that says “I need and want the help” cause if not your involving yourself in a bad situation that will only tend to get worse.. Been there done that.. And he had a Anger Problem, he used drugs and he drank like a Fish.. You can’t help him he’s the only that can help himself.. Take the advice if you like if you don’t then just beware that you’d be in for a hell of a life…GOODLUCK
